India is all set to host the World Cup Cricket 2025 for Visually Impaired Girls from November 11–24, and history has already been made. Anu Thakur, a trailblazer from Bihar, has become the first visually impaired girl from the state to be selected for the national team. Her journey is not just inspiring, it’s revolutionary.
We are proudly associated with Bharat Vikas Viklang Nyas, under which operates the Bharat Vikas & Sanjay Anand Viklang Hospital cum Research Center, located in Patna, Bihar. This center serves as a role model in providing artificial support and rehabilitation services to individuals with physical disabilities.
Our hospital is dedicated to transforming lives by offering specialized care and support to children affected by physical deformities. Through advanced prosthetic solutions and compassionate medical services, we strive to restore mobility, dignity, and independence.
A Disability-Free Bihar in the 21st Century
We envision a future where every individual in Bihar, regardless of physical challenges, has access to quality care, rehabilitation, and opportunities for a fulfilling life.
Established in 1980 with meagre financial means and lofty aims, the All India Confederation of the Blind is a premier self-help confederation of India having 21 organizations from across the country, as its affiliates and a wide range of projects. The key focus areas of AICB’s work are:
The Confederation has, among others, a co-educational special school for the blind in Gurgaon, a state-of-the art and one of the fastest Braille presses of the country having the capacity to print more than 40,000 braille pages per day, a hostel for the college going visually impaired female students, Community-based Rehabilitation programme in 2 districts and vocational training, including advance computer training facilities, at headquarters.
For its outstanding work over 45 years, AICB has won three national awards. In addition, its founder Secretary General Shri J.L. Kaul was conferred one of the highest civilian national awards, the Padma Shri, in 2014. Its present President, Prof. Anil K. Aneja, was conferred the National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with disabilities in the same year.
During its journey of nearly 45 years, AICB has touched the lives of around 1 million persons and is an esteemed member of both the Asian Blind Union and the World Blind Union. Its former President, Mr. A.K. Mittal was the Treasurer, WBU from 2008-16 and then its Secretary General from 2016 till his passing away in October, 2020.
With the mission to ensure equality, dignity and independence for all visually impaired persons, AICB moves on with relentless courage and determination.
